On the occasion of Navruz spring holiday President of Tajikistan Imomali Rahmonov made a speech Tuesday in the Poitakht-80 park of the capital city Dushanbe, Avesta news agency reports. Great attention was paid in the speech to the issues of power and communications in the country and Rahmonov announced that implementation of strategic projects in such spheres as hydropower energy and transport communications will allow Tajikistan to achieve energy independence and find the way out of communication dead end, Avesta writes. Implementation of Tajik-Russian and Tajik-Irani projects on the construction of Sangtuda-1, Sangtuda-2 and Rogun hydropower plants will allow us to achieve energy independence in the nearest future, said the president. Rahmonov also announced that Anzob tunnel is expected to be commissioned on March 23 and the construction of Shakhristan tunnel is about to be launched soon, Avesta agency says. These objects will provide all-the-year-round transport communication between north and south Tajikistan and will open the way to another countries, as the president put it, “these objects are a part of the Great Silk Way,” agency adds. Rahmonov also eminded that the year of 2006 was announced the Year of the Aryan Civilization in Tajikistan, the country will also celebrate 15th anniversary of its independence and 2700th anniversary of Kulob city this year, Avesta reports. Today Navruz has obtained the official status and is celebrated for four days in Tajikistan.
