| 05.08.200612:03 (GMT) | Preliminary hearings on the "Ulman’s case" are scheduled to take place on August, 21 in Rostov-on-Don in the North Caucasian district court, a lawyer of victims, Lyudmila Tikhomirov, has informed the media, news agency Regnum reports. According to investigation authority, in January, 2002 in the area of Give settlement of Shatoi area of the Chechen Republic a 12 person reconnaissance group of the special troops in quantity under command of he GRU captain Edward Ulman fired at a UAZ car when its driver had not reacted to the order to stop. A school’s director who sat in the car was killed, two passengers injured. The GRU servicemen had deduced the survived five Chechens and requested their higher command about the further actions. According to investigation data, following an order to destroy the witnesses of the UAZ execution, two servicemen opened fire on the arrested persons.
This time the case of Captain Ulman and his subordinates as well as Major Alexey Perelevsky accused of murder of six peaceful citizens of the Chechen Republic, will be considered by three professional judges. The North-Caucasian military court twice on the basis of a verdict of jurymen bore the defendant the verdict of "not guilty". The third litigation under the account on "Ulman’s case” on February, 3 was suspended up to the decision of the Constitutional court. Ulman considers, that in case of repeated proceedings by professional court without participation of jurymen the verdict will be born accusatory, NEWSru.com reports.
