| 18.11.200912:02 (GMT) | Investigation of the case of the forwarding agent of Altyn company who was caught early this year in Tyumen area of Siberia with sledges filled with 50 kilograms of golden jewellery, is completed, news agencies are reporting. It appeared that the company, contrary to assumption of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), had no office in Turkey.
The Investigatory directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service Tyumen area directorate finished investigation of the criminal case concerning the forwarding agent of jewellery network Altyn, news agency Rosbalt reported, referring to a source in the security services. According to the source, the forwarding agent has been charged with contraband.
In reply to inquiry of the Russian FSB the law enforcement bodies of Turkey reported that the jewellery withdrawn at Altyn company were not made in Turkey, and neither a secret office of Altyn, nor the firms connected with it had been revealed in Turkey. Earlier the FSB employees suspected the management of Altyn of organization in Turkey of an illegal office which was engaged in buying up of jewellery from local manufacturers for the subsequent contraband transfer to Russia.
After detention of the forwarding agent, in early October, the FSB agents carried out searches in a number of Altyn’s offices. They found out that Altyn had used illicit schemes, extracting gold in Kazakhstan, forwarding it then for processing to China and Turkey and then delivering jewellery to Russia. Russian brands were put on the golden items to escape from the customs duties, and they went on sale, news agency expands.
