His lawyers call Zeltser’s arrest in March by the Belarus KGB on a commercial espionage charge politically motivated, the Associated Press marks. Zeltser was sentenced to three years in prison in August and lost an appeal.
On November 15, Zeltser’s secretary Vladlena Funk was transferred from Minsk remand prison to a colony. She had been sentenced to a year of imprisonment and is to serve the term in the colony No 4 of Gomel.
A US Embassy official has received permission to visit Zeltser and the prison medical specialist to discuss with the prison medical specialist the American doctor’s report of Zeltser’s condition; the visit is scheduled for tomorrow, US State Department Web site says.
