| 18.09.200816:02 (GMT) | The Security Service of Ukraine has been checking the information on possible preparation of attempt against the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, and Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reports.
Today, the former officer of the State Protection Directorate of Ukraine, Nikolai Melnichenko, announced that separate political forces and politicians had been developing a power script for solution of the political crisis and keeping their power positions. He said, one of possible power versions meant preparation of attempts against Yushchenko and Tymoshenko.
The SBU is undertaking measures to check the information promulgated by Melnichenko. In particular, a SBU special-task group has questioned Melnichenko this afternoon.
"According to results of the undertaken measures and the received materials, according to requirements of article 97 of Criminal-remedial code of Ukraine, the decision on bringing or refusal in bringing of criminal case will be accepted", the SBU says.
Today, Melnichenko made an assumption about the person who can develop the attempt (those who could arrange the attempt). „I consider the head of the presidential administration, Viktor Baloga, as one of them", Melnichenko said. He also noted that he possesses many facts, specifying that Baloga "had regularly broken the Criminal code ".
