President Viktor Yushchenko today appointed Active Prime Minister of Ukraine. His name is Yuri Yehanurov, former Head of Dnepropetrovsk Regional City Administration.
Yehanurov was born on August 23, 1948, in Belkachi village of Yakutsk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. He is ethnical Buryat.
In 1967, Yehanurov finished Kiev Constructing Technical School, and graduated from Kiev Institute of National Economy in 1973.
In 1974 he started to work as a director of Kievgorstroy-4 Trust plant for reinforced concrete. In 1978 he was appointed director of Kievgorstroykomplect group. From 1985 till 1988 Yehanurov was heading Stroydetal Trust.
In 1988 he was nominated deputy director of Glavkievstroy (municipal Department for Construction), and later on, in 1993 – Deputy Minister of Economy. In 1994-1997 Yehanurov headed Ukraine Foundation for State Property. For a short period in 1997 he was appointed Minister of Economy, and in the same year he was nominated Head of the State Committee for Business Development. In 1998 he became member of the Ukrainian Parliament (Rada); Deputy Chairmen of the Committee for Economic Policy, National Economy Management, and Investments; member of Popular Democratic Party faction.
In 1999 Yehanurov is appointed First Vice Premier of Ukraine. In 2001 he received the post of the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Performing Administrative Reforms in Ukraine.
From April till June 2002, he was member of the Parliament from Yushchenko's Nasha Ukraina (Our Ukraine) bloc. From June, 2002 – Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship. In 2005, Yehanurov was appointed Chairman of Dnepropetrovsk Regional City Administration.
He holds a PhD in Economy.
